Venetian Night, Hammond Yacht Club 7/13/24

There was a good turnout for this “not-to-be-missed event.”  They included 3 Tall Club members and 5 friends and family. Always amazing to see Johnny’s yacht still afloat!  Dollar Dave parked his yacht (which has air conditioning) right next to Johnny Boy’s yacht, so we could throw empty beer bottles and cans at each other!

I asked Johnny why his boat was named Eileen.  Which made old Johnny boy to sing a little ditty, of all things;- The song went something like this; “Sometimes she wears pajamas, sometimes she wears a gown; but when they’re both in the laundry Eileen is the talk of the town; Eileen goodnight; Eileen goodnight I’ll see you in my dreams!”  I told Johnny that’s Irene, not Eileen, to which Johnny replied, “What are you a wise guy?”

Dawn brought massive amounts of warm beer and cool weather!  It was hot out prior to her arrival, we did NOT get any rain.  I asked Dawn,”Where’s your husband Steve?”  She said, “He’s at home watching Road-Runner Cartoons!”  Johnny had plenty of stuff to eat as long as you like Chicken, we even had watermelon for dessert. Everyone sits on the dock in front of their yachts at this event, since docks have no guard rails that makes this activity somewhat dicey. The highlight at Venetian Night as always is walking around at night and looking at the yachts lit up, and believe it or not they’re was one yacht that actually had Venetian blinds covering its windows!

Johnny’s fellow alumni told me “Johnny not only graduated high school, but he was somewhat of a scholar!”  I replied,  “If that’s true I’m going to have to call Johnny, Mr Smarty Pants.”   Johnny dressed in a remarkable Hawaiian outfit. No cardboard boat races anymore, but specular rock bands and fireworks concluded this fantastic event.
